The Westerville Schools Earned Income Tax Ballot Issue is supported by the following organizations:
Community Organizations
Westerville Area Chamber of Commerce
“The Chamber’s Business Advocacy Council has recommended to support the Westerville School District’s 0.75% earned income tax levy.
Over the last 8 weeks, the Council engaged in thoughtful, and at times, spirited dialogue about the proposed levy to understand the business reason(s) to support the levy. Representatives met with both supporters and opponents of the levy, as well as the district superintendent and Treasurer, to ensure input from all sides was considered and to verify facts presented about the levy. Those discussions provided valuable clarification on the levy’s intent, structure, and long-term impact.
We recognize that strong schools are essential to a thriving business environment. The Chamber’s support is grounded in the following:
• The levy impacts workforce development, property values, and Westerville’s overall business climate.
• Diversifying school funding beyond property taxes which helps stabilize district revenue amid inconsistent state support.
• Safe, modern facilities are critical to attracting and retaining both residents and employers. (The earnings from this levy can be used for operation and facilities.)
• Investing in schools now—ahead of transformational economic development and attraction of businesses on the 88 acres—positions Westerville for long-term success.
We also acknowledge members’ concerns regarding fiscal stewardship, enrollment trends, and academic outcomes. To ensure transparency and accountability, the Board’s support includes strong encouragement for the district to:
1. Establish a Five-Year Financial Review Committee with community and business representation to review financial performance and spending priorities regularly.
2. Engage the business community for expertise in budgeting, healthcare, and long-term fiscal planning.
These steps will help maintain fiscal responsibility, strengthen collaboration, and ensure the business community’s voice remains part of the conversation.
The board has documented this commitment and intends to make these two commitments a priority now and in five years.
We appreciate the thoughtful input shared by many throughout this process and remain committed to fostering partnership between our schools, businesses, and community to ensure Westerville’s continued success. We encourage you to exercise your right to vote now or on November 4.”

Income Tax Levy.
Let us agree: Our schools are our future. Let’s also agree: Learning is formational. As is chemistry and history and algebra, so too are football, and band and theater to the development of the next generation of our Westerville citizens.
Think back: It is the things adjacent to the classroom that we most remember. And it is those spaces that the November 4th Ballot Initiative most supports. Sports. Arts. Nurses. Behavioral health. Getting to school on a bus.
This ballot initiative is keeping stride with the cost of living.
The cost of learning. For most people, a buck a day.
If we believe that there is more to learning than simply the classroom, Westerville families, here’s your time to show up.”
